Abstract Submission Guidelines 2027

A message to the keloid research community ahead of the 7th International Keloid Symposium in Paris.

June 17–19, 2027 Paris, France Max 1,200 Words

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your participation in the 6th International Keloid Symposium in Amsterdam. Your contributions, presentations, discussions, and commitment to advancing keloid science made this meeting a tremendous success.

As we begin preparations for the 7th International Keloid Symposium, which will be held in Paris, France, from June 17–19, 2027, we would like to encourage all investigators to begin planning their research projects and abstracts early. To improve consistency across studies and facilitate meaningful comparisons between treatment outcomes, we ask that authors take note of the following recommendations when preparing abstracts and manuscripts for future meetings.

Author Recommendations

Recommendations for abstracts & manuscripts

Please take note of the following recommendations when preparing your submission for the Paris 2027 meeting and future symposia.

Recommendation 01

Terminology / Nomenclature

Authors are encouraged to use standardized keloid terminology whenever possible. Consistent terminology improves communication among investigators and enhances the quality of scientific reporting. For proper terminology and definitions, please refer to the Keloid Research Foundation (KRF) Nomenclature Page.

Recommendation 02

Keloid Staging

For all clinical studies and clinical trials, authors are required to provide staging information for study participants according to the KRF Keloid Staging System. Submission of clinical outcomes without appropriate staging information limits the interpretation and comparability of study results. We strongly encourage investigators to incorporate staging information into study design, data collection, and reporting.

Recommendation 03

Outcome Reporting

When reporting treatment outcomes, authors should use the KRF RECORD (Response Evaluation Criteria in Keloid Disorder) response criteria to ensure consistency, reproducibility, and comparability across studies. Authors are encouraged to report treatment response, disease progression, recurrence, and follow-up outcomes using RECORD terminology and definitions whenever applicable.

Recommendation 04

Abstract Length

For the Paris 2027 meeting, the maximum abstract length has been increased to 1,200 words, allowing authors greater flexibility in presenting methodology, clinical data, and outcomes.

Our Collective Goal

Our collective goal is to improve the quality, consistency, and scientific rigor of keloid research worldwide. We hope these recommendations will facilitate more meaningful comparisons across studies and contribute to the development of evidence-based standards for the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of Keloid Disorder.

We look forward to receiving your submissions and to welcoming you to Paris in June 2027.

With best regards,

Michael H. Tirgan, MD
