Renato Iozzo is the Gonzalo Aponte Endowed Chair Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology at Thomas Jefferson University. He was the chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Proteoglycans, and president of both the International and the American Societies for Matrix Biology. He has received Honorary Doctoral Degrees from Semmelveis University (2011) and University of Patras (2016), and multiple honors including the Benjamin Castleman Award and the Senior Investigator Award from the ASMB.  Dr. Iozzo is Editor-in-Chief of Matrix Biology.  His research focuses on proteoglycans and their roles in cancer, angiogenesis and autophagy. He has published >380 articles, reaching >45,000 citations and an h-index of 109.
