Juliette Louter
Juliette Louter is a Physician Assistant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Amsterdam UMC, where she is part of the Scar Clinic and specializes in the clinical management of the keloid disorder. With a foundation in skin therapy and a Master of Science in clinical health sciences, she brings together procedural expertise, scientific curiosity, and a deeply patient-centered approach.
Juliette’s clinical work focuses on multimodal keloid therapies—including cryotherapy, intralesional corticosteroids, 5-FU combination therapy, and tailored wound-care strategies. Her guiding principle is that keloid care is never only about the lesion itself, but about the person who lives with it.
Her research interests reflect psychosocial effects, patient journey experiences and clinical outcomes for patients who suffer from the keloid disorder. Juliette is committed to understanding how patients cope with keloid disease, how keloids impact self-image, daily functioning, and quality of life, and how healthcare teams can better support patients throughout treatment. She actively contributes to projects that study patient-reported outcomes, exploring which symptoms, burdens, and psychosocial factors matter most to patients and how these insights can help shape more personalized and meaningful treatment pathways.
Juliette advocates for integrating PROMs into routine care to improve communication, track treatment impact, and ensure that clinical decisions align with what patients value. She also works on initiatives that increase awareness of keloid disease, highlight diversity in patient experiences, and elevate the importance of empathy-driven care.
Her personal motto encapsulates her approach:
“I treat the keloid, and the patient behind it.”
As a member of the organizing committee for the Keloid Symposium, Juliette is dedicated to connecting experts across disciplines and promoting a future in which keloid treatment fully embraces both scientific innovation and the human experience of the condition.
